Full Itinerary for Classic Cusco Tours

Day 1 – Arrival to Cusco

Upon your arrival to Cusco airport, our transfer will wait for you. Then he will welcome you to the Imperial city of the Incas, assisting you with a short drive to the selected hotel. The rest of the day you will take it free and get acclimated to the altitude. But you can also go to explore some of the ancient Inca Streets in the downtown.

Day 2: Tour to Chinchero, Moray, Salt mines – Cusco

You will start from the hotel at 8:30am and then you have 40 minute drive to Chinchero the place for the famous women weavers in Cusco region, you stop here to interact with the native people. You continue the excursion with another 40 minute drive to the spectacular experimental center of Moray. The site was apparently an Inca agricultural research station designed for experimenting with crops at various altitudes (many run down to depths of 100 meters). It is proved that the terraces were built over containing walls filled with rich soil and irrigated by complex system of canals. This enabled the Incas to grow more than 250 different plant species.

On the way to the Salt mine, you will pass Maras a quaint little town with homes that boast out-standing Spanish doors and arches. Maras is famous for people who were spies due to its strategic location above The Sacred Valley. To finish this great tour you will get down into The Sacred Valley of the Incas to visit the stunning salt pans of Maras. There are more than 3000 pans still in production. In the afternoon you will drive back to Cusco.

 Day 3: Sacred Valley of the Incas -Pisac Market – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

You will drive toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the paved road to Pisac. On the way, you will visit the Alpaca center of Awana Cancha where you will have some free time to interact with the famous South American camels (Llamas, Aplacas, Vicunas and Guanaco), You will also stop at the lookout of Taray to take in the view of the Urubamba valley.  The valley shows many farming fields that dress the mountains like carpets. You will arrive in the town of Pisac to visit the biggest souvenir market, Also there will time to see the amazing Pisac ruins. Afterward, you will continue to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a great lunch.

After lunch you will explore Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of Inca foundation with interesting water channels and stone streets. There is a great ceremonial center that pays homage to the water and the fortress that guarded the access to the lower part of this valley. In the evening you will catch the expedition class train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will be scorted to the hotel. The journey by train is approx. one hour and forty minutes.

Day 4: Full Day Machu Picchu tour – Cusco

In the morning, our guide will come to lead you to the bus station. After a short drive you will arrive to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Once, then you go in, there will be a short hike to the top. A great angle to take the classic views after to enjoy the views you go in a guided excursion to the citadel. The guide will take you to the Main Plaza, Sun Temple, Sacred Sun Dial, Temple of the Three Windows, Main Temple and sacred Rock. After the guided excursion, you get some free time to admire this great place on your own.

Not included in the price:

  1. Climb to Huayna Picchu: The climb is for the adventurous people. Only available for early bookings.

In the afternoon, at the appropriate time you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, then start the journey back to Ollantaytambo Station.  Upon your arrival to Ollantaytambo you will be picked up by our transfer, who will take you to the hotel in Cusco.

Day 5:  Cusco – flight back to Lima.

In the morning, we will pick you up from the hotel and transport you to the airport in Cusco.
