Humantay Lake tour – Itinerary

The Humantay Lake tour begins in your hotel in Cusco at 5:00am. Then you drive for 2 hours to get to the town of Mollepata, where we provide you with a delicious breakfast. Afterwards you travel on a dirt road for 1 hour to arrive in Soraypampa. Here you will make the final preparations, before to start the hike to the beautiful  Lake Humantay. There is the option of riding a horse for the up-hill (not included in the price).

You leave Soraypampa following on parts of Salkantay Trail, as you go higher up the mountains around become much more impressive. The Mt Salknatay looks huge and towering in the distance (6270 m) and Humantay is the second tallest in the area. Hiking for about 40 minutes you will end the camping area of Salkantay trekkers. Then the trail for Humantay lake goes on the slope of Mt Humantay and if you are lucky enough there be chances to spot the Andean Condor soaring above Humantay River. Finally after gaining 430 m in altitude you will make it to the Lake, a sacred space where the colors of its water is combined with white ice-glaciers in the same view.

After to enjoy all the beauty and having a great moment for a meditation, you will start heading back down to Soraypampa. Humantay Lake is the third tourist destination in Cusco region. So you may find many other hikers on the same pilgrimage as you, immediately arriving back to the parking place you will board our van. Then there will be one hour drive to get in Mollepata town for lunch. Finally driving for a few hours you will be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco.
