Vinicunca Mountain horseback tour – Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Llaqto – Rainbow Mountain – Llacto – Cusco
To start the Vinicunca horse tour, The guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30am and then you start traveling through the South Valley of Cusco. The car ride is 2 hours on a paved road and 1 hour on dirt road along the Chilliwani Valley to reach out Llaqto community (4,650 m / 14,389 ft.). Before your arrival to the trail-head you will be stoping for a nice breakfast at the local restaurant by Cusipata Village.
After your arrival to the parking place, you will take some of your essential items and begin the trip by horse uphill around some beautiful hills. The locals managing the horses are native people from the zone of Rainbow Mountain Peru. So you will be amazed how fast those people move up and down pulling the horses.
After 1 hour of beautiful horseback ride, you will arrive in the proximity of Vinicunca Mountain Peru (5,100 m / 16,500 ft.). Even with this horse service you will need to walk the last section of the trail to the lookout. Once you get to the top of Vinicunca, there will be spectacular views of the Rainbow Mountains itself and the whole area of Ausangate
After your great moment at this incredibly beautiful Rainbow Mountains, you will get back down to the station for the horses and then start your return horse ride to he bus parking place at Llacto. In the afternoon you will drive for 3 hours to come back to the hotel in Cusco, estimated arrival time is around 4 pm.
