Rainbow Mountain tour Peru – Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Llaqto – Rainbow Mountain – Llaqto – Cusco

To start the trip, you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 am and then you drive 2 hours on the pave road and 1 hour along the Cusipata valley on dirt road. The ride to the trail head at Llaqto Village (4,650 m / 15,132 ft.) is approx.3 hours long. Before we arrive to the beginning of the trail, you will have a delicious breakfast.

After the arrival to the parking place,  you will take some essential items and start the day hike uphill, following a clearly marked trail. There will a nice view of a glacier and alpacas herds on the side of the path. As we hike to the Rainbow Mountain Peru, some locals will be offering us the service of the horse to ride up to Vinicunca.

After 2 hours of trekking you will reach the lookout of the popular Rainbow Mountain Peru (5,100 m / 16,500 ft.); You will explore the area and take beautiful pictures of the stunning scenery. The towering Mt Ausangate is visible from here.

After to enjoy a great moment at the Majestic Rainbow Mountain Peru, you will walk back down the same way you came. In the afternoon after a delicious lunch we will have 3 hour return drive to Cusco, arriving to the hotel around 4pm.
